So, Prop 8 passed in California which defines marriage between a man and a woman. This is the 2nd time that Californians have voted to define marriage as one man and one woman. With the passage of Prop 8, many people have been marching in protest of Prop 8's passage. I believe it is ok to march and to express your opinions. However, for proponents of gay marriage to want to overturn the will of the people is ridiculously insane. The majority of the people have spoken. To undue the will of the people is to go against the electoral process.
If proponents of gay marriage succeed in getting same gender marriages legalized once again in California, it speaks to 4 serious consequences:
1) Disregard for the will of the people
2) Disrespect for the election process
3) Further disfranchise people about elections and government
4) Undermine the democratic process
This in itself is dangerous for the well being of this republic, even the United States of America. The U.S. will seize to be the United States if this occurs.

Suddenly Discouraged and Saddened
It's clear. We have a new President, even Barack Obama.
I am extremely discouraged to point that I want to leave the U.S.A. for at least 4 years...at least until his first term in office expires.
I am saddened because of the lack of foresight of the American people. Who is really to blame for the current conditions of our great country. President G.W. Bush, Republicann Party, Democratic Party, etc???
If anything, the American people should bear the burden of its own idiotic decision making. After all it was the American people who voted for a 2nd Bush term. Bush bears part of the blame for the Republican loss. It strayed away from true conservatism. It strayed from its core principles and played with the policies of the left.
On the other hand, Americans have become a nation with people who desire more with less personal accountability. Its people have become accustomed to more "things" and less on caring for others. It has become a nation with people filled with the attitude of "me" and the government to be the provider of "me." Its people appear to NOT fully comprehend what capitalism is meant to represent....work and more hard work.....
So, if the nation goes down the drain...we only have ourselves, even the American people to blame. I just hope we don't lose faith in this great establishment even that of the U.S.A. ---I hope I don't.

Ignorant and the Unlearned???
I am extremely afraid of an Obama Presidency. I am more afraid of what might end up being the legacy of this great country of ours with the "Left" taking over the policy decisions of this nation. Here are my fears:
1) Government being the dictator. With Obama's promises of green pastures for our every needs, government will take more power from the people. This is extremely dangerous.
2) Socialism - with the ideology of "sharing the wealth" and the notion that this will work is not only arrogantly insane and ridiculously short sighted. It does work. It has not worked for Cuba and North Korea and it sure as heck will not work for us. The Europeans have tried forms of it, but it only adds more burden to everyday Joes who are trying to make a living.
3) We will loose our choice to "decide" - What options do we have if the govt becomes our primary provider of ONE option.
We are a REPUBLIC and we are suppose to decide what is best not what the government feels is best for us. POWER to the PEOPLE.
With all these fears, I am afraid the insanely arrogant and the insanely unlearned might not be getting this message and will be deciding the future of this nation based on a couple of promises for salvation.
I sure hope that we don't end up paying for the arrogant and ignorant choices of the masses, even if it is a select number.

Going soft on Obama????
I have not made a post for quite some time. Reason being, I am just not that excited about the elections this year.
I must admit, many of the policies and ideas that Obama represent make me gringe. From universal health care to higher corporate taxes and many others make me want to crawl and yell ---HELL!!!
However, on the other hand McCain is not much of a conservative and quite frankly he was not my #1 choice for the Republican ticket.
Then I ask myself, which one of these two presidential candidates will I feel comfortable having a dinner with at my home with my family. Honestly, I hate to admit it, but I would rather have a steak dinner with Obama than to sit and be bored with McCain.
So, essentially, am I willing to sacrifice my convictions of policy over comfort? I hope the latter will not take the better of me. However, it is the latter that often make people choose what they want. So is it safe to think of comfort over policy issues? I hope NOT but then again, who knows????.

When is it a crime to make and have money?
All this talk about increasing corporate tax and taxes on the higher income people has made me wonder and ask the question -
When is it a crime to make money let alone have a lot of it?
The last time I checked, this nation was partly founded upon principles of individualism and the ability of one to "reach for the skies."
One's ability to make money and a lot of it is the very essence for which this country was founded, even that of individualism. Why would anyone allow someone who promises to crack down on corporate profits and increase taxes for the higher income people be voted into office??? Any logical thinking person would understand this way of thinking to be hypocritical.
It is absolutely absurd and unAmerican to tax more of those who make a lot of money due to that very fact. Then again, I am one of a few who still believes in the very reason for America's existence. Do you?

Ready for Elections to be over and DONE with????
Given the polarization of this presidential election, I am about ready for it to be over and DONE with already. Who isn't when we have no power to control the media and its messiah endorsements of "Change"
But who wants change anyway? Only the left who wants to rob Peter to pay Bob.

Obamanomics Is a Recipe for Recession = Lack of Plans
Need I say more about about higher taxes????
A recent editorial in the Washington Street Journal noted the following:
History teaches us that high taxes and protectionism are not conducive to a thriving economy, the extreme case being the higher taxes and tariffs that deepened the Great Depression. While such a policy mix would be a real change, as philosophers remind us, change is not always progress.
-Obamanomics Is a Recipe for Recession By MICHAEL J. BOSKIN

On another note, Obama fever, has failed to really provide any solid plans on what he is going to do - no real plans, again adding to the lack with his candidancy. A recent article from the Associated Press noted that Obama's social security plan is missing details.
Barack Obama's bid to place a new Social Security tax on very high incomes is either a bold or foolhardy plan, depending on who critiques it. But its potential impact is almost impossible to gauge because he is providing few details on basic questions such as what the tax rate might be, what types of income would be taxed and how the taxpayers' benefits would be affected.

So, who is this guy? Why would anyone vote for someone we know little about let alone his policies?
I am NOT a fan of John McCain as he does not really represent true conservatism. However, given the choice we have, I would rather spitefully cast my ballot for him than for someone who would lead us to socialism and higher taxes.

Higher Taxes - Not a good idea
A recent article posted on the left leaning MSNBC noted higher taxation is probably not a good idea. It concludes by stating "Veteran tax lobbyist Ken Kies, the former chief of staff of the Joint Congressional Committee on Taxation, said, “If in January or February we’re in a serious recession, and a world-wide recession, most people will think that is not a good time to increase taxes on individuals,” as Obama wants to do for upper-income people."

Three Little Pigs and the Left Wing Connection
I was reading my daughter the "Three Little Pigs" book a couple of days ago and suddenly realized that there was something hypocritical and oddly wrong about this children's tale.
We all know the story, the first two little pigs built their houses with straw and sticks. They were both warned by their brother about the big bad wolf would blow their houses down but to no avail, they chose to "play."
In the end the big bad wolf did blow the house of straw and the house of sticks down and were eventually saved by seeking refuge in their brother's house, which was built with bricks. Ironically, these were the same brothers who did not want to build strong houses.
Now, the part that I find politically connected to the left leaning policies of the Democracts is one of the underlying messages is that one does not need to work hard at all because someone will always come to the rescue... someone will always save them from their ignorance. While, it is great to help people in need, it is not ok to leave personal accountability by the side because of one's refusal to work hard. The moral of this tale is that in this great American society that the much of the policies of the "left" is similar to the message of don't worry about working hard or taking responsibility, the government will pick up the bill for your troubles - someone else will fork out the bill for you. This is type of social welfare policy ultimately kills creativity, hard work, and personal accountability. This is the type policy that the "left" and their "messiah" candidate for the Office of the U.S. President will pursue and can ultimately bankrupt the dreams, the hard work, and the stability of this nation.

Barack Obama Supporter Offended Apparently - So What?
I had forwarded the entire message below (Americans are grossly arrogant and ignorant of politics) to a former work colleague. To my surprise, I received a rather irritative response with the following words ---"But when one sends slander and untruths about another maybe they should look in his or her closet before passing judgment on another."
I suppose I am not exactly surprise by the response as it was expected. What I find rather amusing is that my former work colleage did not provide any reason why she believed the statements made were untrue. To that point, I wish to further notate the "truth." Let me highlight a further response.
Reasons why OBAMA is wrong for America:
I. Obama was basically endorsed by the terrorist group Hamas. The same group who has vowed to destroy Israel.
This has been widely reported. The Hamas Political Adviser Yousef has publicly said that he hopes Obama wins the presidential election. To have a terrorist organization representative declare that he hopes a particular presidential candidate wins the election is probably not the type of association Obama or anyone running for the Office of the U.S. President wants.
II. Is willing to sit down without question with the likes of Iran's president. This is the same president who has vowed to wipe away Israel and destroy America.
The BarackObama.com website notes the following "Obama is the only major candidate who supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions." So, there is no debate in regards to this issue. Obama will sit down with Iran without any condition. What makes Obama think Iran wants to talk to him or let alone listen and change its positions???? Further, Obama even in an earlier Democratic Presidential debate strongly pointed that he would sit down with Iran and our enemies without precondition and meet with them. This is a stated fact.
III. Has been associated for 20 years with a racist and "hatred filled" preacher, even Rev Wright.
Obama has condemned Rev Wright. He also reportedly and supposedly left the church. The question is - if there was nothing wrong with this preacher's sermon, then why has Obama suddenly come out condemning Rev Wright? Why did he leave the church he has been associated with for over 20 years? One can only imagine.
IV. Obama will raise taxes to fix so-called problems in America.
On the Barack Obama website, Obama proposes to provide universal health care coverage, increase sick leave, increase the minimum wage, etc...The only question is - how is this going to be achieved? Who is going to pay for these programs? Your bet is as good as mine....taxation. From whom? You've guessed it? Furthermore, he plans to place more taxes on the wealthy. While this may seem like a possible easy way out, the reality of this band-aid approach include: 1) will most likely disincentivise companies from doing business. These are the same businesses that employ many Americans; and 2) the bottomline cost will come back to the customers, hurting the same people he claims he wants to help.
V. Has no real plans to move America forward. All he has is empty rhetoric for change.
One should really research his plans. While the Obama website looks rather presidential, nothing appears concrete.

Americans Are Grossly Arrogant & Ignorant of Politics
I've decided to post this in its entirety. It raises several great points for consideration. This is by no means suggests that we ought to protest the upcoming presidential elections. It is our privilege as Americans to exercise our right to vote for the best possible candidate.
Here are the reasons for Obama's success among Americans:
1) Americans are ignorant and arrogant when it comes to politics. Many Americans do not care when it comes to politics or government (unless it impacts them). People are not familiar with political issues. Let's face it many Americans do not even know who their elected representatives are on the national, state, and local level. Therefore, despite the fact that Obama represents many topics that are considered damaging to America, Americans are too lazy to research the real issues relying mostly on "feeling and appeal." While feeling and appeal may be great on personal level, for matters of national significance, this is insanely ignorant.
2) Americans are looking for a "Savior." Americans are looking for a "savior" with the magical wand to save them from their ignorance and troubles. After all, many Americans would feel quite comfortable if government provided for every single need, want, and desire. Obama represents the desired "change" for salvation for many Americans. The only downfall is that, who is going to pay for this desired "change"? Individual accountability is lacking in America and people are enamored with the idea that someone else should fork out the bill to pay for our behavioral attitudes and "stuff."
3) Guilty of prejudice & past sins. People feel that an Obama Presidency will finally bridge the gap between the races and overcome the past sins of slavery and discrimination in this country. People are even willing to vote for Obama to overcome their own insecurities in an effort to avoid being labeled "prejudice" or racist. (As a side note, it was the Democratic Party who was for slavery in the south and it was the Republican Party who fought against slavery. This is the same party who decided recently to only award partial votes to delegates from Michigan and Florida.)
Reasons why OBAMA is wrong for America:

V. Has no real plans to move America forward. All he has is empty rhetoric for change.
This is not an endorsement of the leading Republican Party presidential candidate, as it quite the contrary. Rather, Americans need to be aware of Barack Hussein Obama.
Please Say NO to Obama. If you care about America's future, please share this with your family, friends, and colleagues.

Conservatism vs. Liberalism - So What?
I consider myself to be a fairly even minded person. I recognize the value of both conservatism and liberalism in the America. Both philosophies have reason to exist and in a way act as a check and balance for one another. Liberalism and conservatism often are associated in the negative context. Both have perspectives that are unique that warrant serious consideration by all people.
Liberalism: The two areas for which I admire the most about liberalism are "progression" and thinking "outside the box." These ideas have certainly helped to advance America to the 21st century. No one can doubt the role of progressive thinking has had in America. It is certainly something that we all need to remember.
Conservatism: The principles of conservatism for which I admire the most include:
1) Belief in preserving the traditonal family structure (father, mother, and children).
2) Personal responsibility and accountability. It is NOT the responsibility of government to save us from our ignorance. It is not the responsibility of government to provide for all our basic needs. These are personal responsibilities.
3) Belief in limited government involvement and regulation in the economy.
4) Belief that my hard earned salary is a result of my hard work and sweat. While I am sympathetic to the less fortunate, I believe in lower taxes.
5) I believe in maintaining traditions especially that of the family, church, communities, etc.
6) I believe in the role of government to "defend" us from our enemies. To me, this is the only business of government.
While I admire both liberal and conservative perspectives, it is the latter that is at the heart of my being because it also represents my conviction as a fair minded individual.

California Going Insane!
Californians have always prided themselves as the frontier of development and progress. California is a dream land for many people seeking fame and fortune. Many come to California in search of the American Dream. After all, California is often noted as having one of the richest economies in the world. If California were a country of its own, it will be one of the most industrialized nations in the world. The federal government receives more money from California than California gets back in its share of federal dollars.
California is a great place to live. People are tolerant and easy going. However, sadly to note, California is starting to go insane. The CA Supreme Court ruling to overturn the state ban on same gender marriages has trampled and flattened voice of the people to its core.
Californians voted to ban same gender marriage several years ago by a vote of 60 percent. This was more than a simple majority, it was the will of the people. This is a dangerous territory because the court has basically overturned the will of the people. So, what can we do?
There are only two options:
1) Get a constitutional ammendment
2) Get out of California
The only real solution is to teach our children that marriage is between a man and woman. After all, in this crazy unstable world, only righteous principles can withstand the wind of uncertainty and corruption.

An American Obsession with "Race"
This country is mad when it comes to race. I do not know why race is such an issue in this country. To make matters worse, the government appears to be part of the problem. Many of our government related forms requires us to declare a race or ethnicity. Is this really necessary?
We are so obsessed with identifying people by their race or ethnicity that we sometimes forget the bigger picture ---we are "Americans." Why do people have to be identified as African American, Mexican American, Cuban American, etc. As citizens, we are "Americans" and that should be sufficient.
We need to learn from citizens of other countries. I have never heard a New Zealander or an Australian call themselves a Mexican New Zealander/Australian or a Fijian New Zealander/Australian. They are New Zealanders or "kiwis" and nothing else. Once in a while you might hear the people refer to themselves as Kiwi of Fijian descent but that is it. I don't think the people of African descent from Britain call themselves African Britons. They are British and that is it.
As American citizens we should be identified by our nationality and not by our race. To do so will only add to the racial divide that currently exists in America.
The American Challenge
I had the opportunity to attend a recent conference/training about "Basic Skills" sponsored by the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office. The Basic Skills initiative is aimed at equipping community colleges in CA with strategies and resources to assist students coming into college who lack the basic skills in reading, writing, and speaking. The irony for me is that in my mind people going to college should already have these skills....but what do I know, I am just a realist.
I am not going to bore anyone with the details of the conference. However, I do want to say that basic skills is not an issue that should be addressed at the college level. It is an issue that should be addressed prior to anyone going to college. If students cannot read, write, or speak at the college level, then they have no business going to college. Rather, they should go back to high school, middle school, or elementary school for that matter and start the process once again. Students should not be allowed to advance onto the next grade level if they cannot meet the grade proficiency levels. We are doing them disservice by allowing them to progress onto the next level. I do not know why we, a tax paying public, are allowing schools to operate in such a manner. It is disappointing to say the least.
Secondly, education is also a parent responsibility. If a child cannot read at grade level, do not let him stand idle and allow the school to advance him to the next grade. Doing so, will only yield heart ache in future years. It is better to correct the issue earlier than later. We are so quick to think that the child's self-esteem will be in jeopardy if he does not advance to the next grade level with his friends. Reality check #1 --- the world will be a much scarier place to be in if one cannot read or write.
There are some startling statistics on the state of basic skills in California and the nation. In CA, the majority of those identified as needing "basic skills" assistance are Hispanic/Latino. The least are Native Americans, Causians, and Asian/Pacific Islanders. While there are some explanations, I cannot help but wonder why this is the case with Hispanic/Latino students. I'll let you make your own conclusions.

Obama who?
For a while now, I have had a certain discontent for Barack Hussein Obama. I cringe everytime I see him on television or hear him speak. I often automatically change the TV channel or turn off the radio whenever I hear his voice.
This has puzzled me because I consider myself to be objective. Then I finally realized why I find it difficult to listen to this man. I find his promises for "change" to be groundless. I find his speeches on "hope" to be nothing more than mindless talk.
This is the same man who cannot make up his mind whether to support the war on terror or not. This is the same man who does not know where he stands with his preacher. This is the same man who compared his preacher (Rev Wright) to his white grandmother. This is the same man whose wife just recently realized that she was proud to be an American.
So, from here, I find myself at odds with many Americans who appear to understand this man. As for me, I do not and cannot see through any of the promises. So again, Obama who?

America the Beautiful
All too often, America does not receive the credit it deserves for the good it does for this country and the world. People often complain about what the government has done wrong and what it should do. However, in our race to place "blame" we fail to recognize the blessings this country offers its citizens and the world.
America is not perfect but the principles for which it stands are undeniably close to perfection. No one can argue the virtues and principles of liberty, freedom, and the pursuit of happiness are divinely inspired. Where else can you basically call the U.S. President "a moron" and still go on to shake his hand? Where else are opportunities endless? Where else can you find the spirit of giving thriving within its communities.
America has done wonders for the world politically and economically. Europe was basically rebuilt after WWII as a result of support from America. It has provided billions of dollars in aide around the world. It continues to be one of the biggest donors for the fight against Aids in Africa. It is often one of the first nations to respond to disasters around the world.
We are not a perfect nation. Since the government is made up of people, we suffer the consequences of imperfect decisions. However, no one can deny that America is beautiful. It is beautiful because of its principles. It is beautiful because of its people. It is beautiful because we are not perfect.

Multi-Culturalism: Insanely Overrated!
Multi-culturalism and political correctness in America are insanely overrated. Why should the government be responsible for ensuring that cultural and political correctness are instituted in society? Why should anyone for that matter be forced to accept or practice cultural and political correctness in this country? Where do we draw the line?
Everyone is different, even people of the same family, gender, ethnicity, religion, education, etc are different. We are never going to progress as a nation if we keep trying to make sure we accommodate for every religion, ethnicity, economic, social, and political background. It is not the responsibility of government to make sure we practice "inclusivity, diversity, or sensitivity" in this country. It is a personal responsibility...And if people do not want to do so, then so be it. Likewise, if one practices the virtues of cultural and political correctness, then good for that person. Otherwise, multi-culturalism and political correctness are insanely overrated.

The Loss of Common Sense
Whatever happened to common sense? Why should the government provide relief to those who made terrible financial arrangements with their mortgages? Why should the govt have to fork out endless contributions to those who chose drop out of school? Why should other taxpayers be forced to bail those who made poor financial, education, social decisions? Just because some made smart educational and financial choices and managed to move ahead does not mean they should pay for the few who lost all common sense in their personal choices. It is not the responsibility of government to "rescue" people from their ignorance. These were personal choices and as such should be held accountable for them.Is the government the answer to our economic, social, health, and educational challenges? Absolutely NOT.

Rev Wright vs. Mormon Comparison: Insanely Stupid!
The comparison to Barack Obama's church (a.k.a Rev Wright) and the Mormon church is insanely stupid. The media, so-called academic supporters of Obama, and even Rev Al Sharpton have compared the Mormon Church to Rev Wright's so-called theological sermons. This comparison could not be further from the truth. Why?
1. Political ramblings and directed sermons are not a common practice with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS).
2. Anti-government sentiments are not a practice with the LDS.
3. Speech that ignite "hatred" is against true Christian beliefs even that of the LDS Church.
4. There is no such thing as a Mormon Church. It is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Finally, Rev Wright refers to his church as the "black church." This has the connotation that there is a "white church." Ironically, any "white man" who would call his church the "white church" will be a called a racist. In the true christian world, there is no place for a "black church" or any church that claims itself to be of a specific "nationality, ethnicity, gender, or greed." It should be the the Church of Jesus Christ and nothing else. To claim otherwise, entails ignorance and complete irreverence of Him for which sermons should be based.

Illegal Immigration
Two things you have to keep in mind about illegal immigration -
1) It costs this country $$$$. Illegal immigrants benefit from hospital and school benefits regardless of their residency status. These are just a few of the benefits they receive. Who pays for it? You, the legal residents of this country who pay income, property, and other related taxes
2) Anyone who lives here illegally is also breaking the "law" of the land.

Double Standard
Why does Rev Wright thinks he has a free pass to public scrutiny? Any logical intelligent thinking person knows that when one makes comments that have political interpretations often yields himself to public scrutiny. One does not have to be an elected politician to be a politician.
The irony of this whole issue is that when the "tough gets going" Rev Wright retrieves to the "race card." For someone to have the audacity to say that such criticism of his comments is an "attack" on black churches is insulting? This is the USA and we are allowed to criticise. We do not live is some socialist or communist regime that prohibits the free exchange of ideas.
The same can be said for Barack Hussein Obama. Some supporters have gone to suggest that those who criticise the senator as "racists." What in the world? There is not a magical carpet ride to the White House.
If Rev Wright or Sen Obama cannot take the heat then perhaps they should step aside and let representative democracy proceed.

Who is going to pay for it?
Clinton and Obama promise to save the American people from the economic woes of today? The question is who is going to pay for it?
Your guess is as good as mine? You.....the taxpaying people of America? So, the next time you hear Clinton or Obama mention their economic strategy, remember it will come from your paycheck.

U.S.Presidency: Entitlement?
The run for the White House between the two leading Democratic candidates is 'not all that' the media makes us to believe.
True one is "black" and the other is a "woman," but what else? Are we smitten by this dream to have the first "black" or the first "woman" at the helm of this country that we forget that the job itself is not for everyone. There is an attitude of entitlement by some to see either a Obama or Clinton Presidency become a reality that all sense of "common sense" is lost.
Obama's claim to fame is his "blackness," while Clinton's ride is based on the past with her husband's term in office. Neither of these claim should be the ticket to the White House. Obama is mesmorizing us with "CHANGE," while Clinton seems to think we can turn back to the "90s." Why does Obama think that we all want "Change." Any change that may come as a result of a Obama White House will most likely leave the American people with less change in their pockets. A Clinton White House will expose the American public once again with the "experience" of big government and special interest groups.
Being black or female is not an entitlement to the Office of the U.S. President. While historical as it may be to be the first black or woman in the White House, it does NOT signify qualification to be the U.S. President.
The irony is that the Republican Party does not offer a better alternative. John McCain has no executive experience neither does he represent principles of conservatism that will elevate this country for the better.
For me, I may have to close my eyes at the voting booth and pray that I select the lesser of both evils.
